Christian Addiction Therapy, Grounded in Truth
Recovery at Shepard & Stone will bring together proven clinical therapy and a daily walk with Christ. Here is every approach behind our care, in plain words.
Two kinds of care, one person
Neither replaces the other. Together they care for the mind, the body and the soul.
Licensed therapy and medical support
Individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral interventions, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care and psychiatric coordination.
A daily walk with Christ
- · Biblical counseling
- · Bible study
- · Worship
- · Chaplain and pastoral care
- · Prayer and Scripture through the day
Every approach behind Shepard & Stone’s care
Four kinds of help, each with its own tools. Hover or tap a group to see what’s in it.
Talking it through
- Individual therapy
- One-on-one time with a therapist to work through what’s underneath the using.
- Individual counseling
- Practical, goal-focused sessions on the week ahead.
- Group therapy
- Recovery alongside others who understand, guided by a clinician.
- Process groups
- Space to talk honestly about what each day brings up.
Changing patterns
- Cognitive behavioral interventions
- Spotting the thoughts that lead to using, and practicing new responses.
- Motivational interviewing
- Conversations that strengthen your own reasons to change.
- Relapse-prevention groups
- Knowing your triggers and having a plan before they come.
- Psychoeducation
- Plain teaching on how addiction affects the brain, body and family.
Healing the whole person
- Trauma-informed care
- Care that assumes there may be pain behind the addiction, and never adds to it.
- Psychiatric coordination
- Working with psychiatric providers when mental health needs care too.
- Life-skills development
- Routines, budgeting, work and the everyday skills sober life needs.
Family and the road ahead
- Family education
- Helping loved ones understand addiction and recovery.
- Family involvement
- Bringing family into the process when it helps the resident.
- Case management
- Handling work, legal and insurance needs alongside treatment.
- Continuing care
- Check-ins and community after treatment ends.
The right mix for each level of care
Not every approach fits every stage. Detox focuses on safety and rest; residential care brings in the full range; outpatient care leans on relapse prevention and continuing care. Your plan will be built around you.

Straight answers
If your question isn’t here, call or text us. We’ll tell you the truth, even when it’s “not yet.”
Is faith a replacement for therapy?
No. Prayer, Scripture and church never replace detox, medical care, psychiatric care or licensed therapy. At Shepard & Stone they work together.
Do I have to take part in faith activities?
No. They are offered every day and encouraged, never forced. You don’t have to be a Christian to come to Shepard & Stone.
Who will lead the therapy?
Qualified clinicians. We’ll introduce the clinical team here as Shepard & Stone prepares to open.
Is there 12-Step support?
Residents are welcome to attend 12-Step meetings, and many find Christian faith and the 12 Steps work well together.
